The greatest thing any man can say in this life is that he knows the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour. I was born in Denver, Colorado in November of 1955, but I wasn't "born again" until 24 years later. My father worked for a company that placed the Minute Man missiles (nuclear warheads) in their "silos" out west, so we traveled a lot and were in church very little. When we moved to Tennessee, I was fortunate in that I had Grandparents who were saved and always in church. Like many people, I went to the altar at a young age and claimed to be saved from that experience. Later years would prove this to be false.
After marrying the love of my life and sweatheart of 7 years, I began an apprenticeship which put me working with a pastor that had just started an independent, Bible Believing, Baptist Church in the area. After many months of witnessing to me, he invited himself to my house on a Thursday evening. I had been living as most unsaved men do, causing great hardship on the marriage to the point of near destruction. I wanted what that preacher had, but I didn't want to admit it. I was sick of the life that I had led and was looking for something more. He opened an old King James Bible and began to show me things that I had only heard about from others throughout my life. There it was, in black and white; I could be saved, saved eternally and be sure about it. I could be forgiven for a life of wicked sin. I didn't have to go to hell and what's more, I could go to Heaven! I bowed my head and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour that night and have never regretted the greatest decision of my life! He saved my soul, my marriage, my family and called me to preach the same Word that had done all of this for me.
